▼ＳｃｉＤｅｖが発足して５年。2006年には、５０カ国以上から120人のニュース記事を
入手している。この間、ＳｃｉＤｅｖの主要ドナー4団体（英国国際開発局、スェーデン
国際開発局、カナダ国際開発研究センター、ロックフェラー財団）からの援助を得て、
鳥インフルエンザ・砂漠化対策などの１２の研究開発案件を手がけてきた。中国・イン
ド・ブラジルといった開発のホットスポットに加えて、アフリカ・中南米のニュース分
析では世界科学ジャーナリスト連盟WFSJの助けを大きく借りている（http://www.wfsj.org/index.php）。今年のアフリカ連合サミットは[科学技術」をテ
ーマにしてエチオピアで開かれるが、「南」の情報を発信していくにはまだまだ多言語
のニュースソース（特にフランス語）を確保しなくてはならない。SciDevにおけるアフ
リカ・中近東リポーターの増員は、ナイロビで開かれる国連気候変動サミットの際にも
テストする予定だ。インターネット利用によるユーザーのサイエンスコミュニケーショ
ンを活性化させることで活動の充実を図って生きたい。
